Get An Office
If you don’t already have one, this is the most important thing. Most people can’t separate their work and their home life when they work at home. So, you need to get a room that is solely for the purposes of working. This helps to create that idea of separation in your mind. One room is for working, and when your work is done, you shut that door, and you don’t go back to it until the next day. At the same time, working at home means you should have a sense of structure. Having these two together will help loads.
Keep On Top Of Life Admin
The big panic always sets in when it’s time to do your tax return, but this is one aspect of many things that can sneak up on you. Making sure that you are organized and that your life admin is always in check will take a lot of the stress off your mind. But also by setting aside a little bit of time every month, just an hour or so, to make sure that everything is in order means that by the time you need to do a tax return, everything is in perfect order, making it a far easier process.
Turn The Computer Off!
If you struggle to maintain a difference between when you’re at work and when you are with the family, it’s time to take some drastic measures. If you can’t stay away from your phone or your computer, turn them off, and leave them in the office. While most people think of the benefits working home, like you can be in constant communication with your office, do we really want to? The thing with working at home, many aspects are fantastically convenient for you, but if you don’t know how to differentiate work and life, you need to work hard at keeping those things separate.
If you’ve got toddlers at home, it can be very difficult to get any work done, but it’s also beneficial for you to take regular breaks so you can spend time with your family. There is a reason you’re working at home, so use it to your advantage. You get to spend more time with the ones you love, but that’s not to say you need to work 24/7. Take regular breaks, but make sure that you still stick to the 9 to 5 working pattern.
